Conservation, Human development, Entrepreneurship
Group of women organized and located in the area of the historic center of Quito, belonging to the Cabildo de Toctiuco- El Pinar sector. They are guardians of the slopes of Pichincha, together with the community made up of migrants from the province, which makes the group full of traditions, ancestral wealth and gastronomy with the products of the mountains.
With the support of the Wasi Project, we worked on: workshops, mingas, community murals, for the recovery of spaces, training on the non-generation of garbage, separation of waste, reduce or not consume or sell single-use plastic, offer options vegetarians promoting food sovereignty and solidarity economy of their gastronomic ventures, without ceasing to recognize themselves as children of the Pachamama.
Community empowerment in favor of the protection of their cultural and natural heritage (Cultural Biodiversity), has made this group of women an example of inspiration to conserve natural heritage and encourages the community to be proactive.

WASI project of belonging, appropriation and protection of community and tourist spaces. This is how we have called them: Women caring for the family, women caring for the mountain! In the place it has a historical and cultural background in which ancestral and modernity converge. Among the important characters that have traveled this route are the wise men Alexander Von Humboldt and Aimé Bonpland, who traveled the Cantuña Quarry, the Chorrera and the Route until they reached the Ruco Pichincha in 1802, places full of natural wealth and history, in the viewpoint 180 degrees appreciating the mountain range and its snowy mountains, called the avenue of the volcanoes. Women protecting the slopes of the mountain and the mountain is witness to their progress !!
